Vincent van Gogh is one of the masters of modern art. The works of the late Dutch painter have been appreciated by millions of people. These art lovers visit major museums to see the colorful paintings up close.

Recently, there has been another way to experience the European artist’s masterpieces. The event, titled “Van Gogh Alive,” has been traveling throughout the world since it debuted in Singapore in 2011.

Created by an Australian company, “Van Gogh Alive” is a large-scale exhibition that offers a unique perspective on the Dutch master. Forty high-definition projectors are installed across the venue and display van Gogh’s famous paintings. The walls, floors, and ceilings become covered with the dazzling artworks.

When visitors walk through the exhibition, they feel as though they have stepped inside the paintings themselves. They become immersed in van Gogh’s vibrant colors and unique brushstrokes.

In addition, prop sand sculptures are used along with the light shows to heighten the multisensory experience. For example, van Gogh’s famous sunflower paintings come alive in the Sunflower Room, where hundreds of flower sculptures surround the visitors.

Another section recreates the artist’s domicile. It is filled with life-sized versions of the furniture and objects from the iconic painting, “Bedroom in Arles.”

The makers of “Van Gogh Alive” say they want people to interact with the art rather than seeing it from afar. Visitors can take pictures as they travel through the famous art periods of the artist. They are also encouraged to upload these photos online and share their experience.

Since debuting in 2011, the exhibition has been presented in over 70 cities around the world. Currently, it is on a tour through European cities.
