Making Art With Plastic
작성자  : 관리자
Unquestionably, plastic waste is one of the most serious problems facing our planet today. Every year, 400 million tons of unrecycled plastic get added to Earth.

Recently, two artists have gained notice for using plastic waste as part of their work. Their interesting art pieces show very different approaches to an urgent problem.

Flowers From Plastic Waste

William Amor is a French artist with a very specific skill. He makes incredibly beautiful flower sculptures out of disposable plastic bags, bottles, and other discarded materials.

Amor meticulously shapes, cuts, and dyes the plastic waste and turns it into petals and stems. He then assembles the components to create fake flowers of breathtaking beauty. His poetic creations include camellias, poppies, roses, and other graceful flowers.

Through his upcycled* works of art, Amor says he wishes to change people’s outlook on plastic bag pollution. In a small way, it is also the French artist’s attempt to reduce plastic waste.

Plastic Bag Store

In January, the Plastic Bag Store opened in Michigan, the United States. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary grocery store with the usual products. For example, the shelves are filled with cereals, produce, meat, cakes, and frozen foods.

However, the Plastic Bag Store is actually an art exhibit, and all the items are made with single-use plastics that were thrown away. There are even packaged goods with fake brand names like “Bagorade” and “Shredded Waste.”

The traveling exhibition was created by Robin Frohardt in 2020. Using social satire and humor, the artist said she wanted visitors to consider how their shopping habits were impacting the environment.
